This site has been an enormous source of information to me and it's a shame that future Ex-JWs will not have the opportunity to benefit from it as I and many others have. It's also a shame that I really didn't get to know too many people here yet, as I have been a casual member of the site for less than a year, I think. Hopefully a spinoff site will continue the legacy!

What would you do if you knew...
by loosie inthat one of your coworkers was cheating on his spouse with another coworker?
i know the wife.
she works at the school my daughter attends.

She has a right to know. I was driven to the point of madness for the last 2 years of my first marriage because I KNEW that my wife was cheating on me but couldn't put my finger on it. Chances are that the lady who's being cheated on already has an idea that something is going on. She needs to prepare herself for the worst and not let the cheating husband get the drop on her. In my case, my own sister knew that my ex was cheating on me and didn't tell me for nearly a year! It took a while for me to forgive her for that! If you were in this lady's shoes, you'd want to know, wouldn't you? Tell her! Don't wait! Not saying anything is akin to not saying anything to others about pedophiles in the congregation! Telling her is the right thing to do!

I posted a question on yahoo answers, in regards to the book study arrangem
by PaNiCAtTaCk ini posted the question last night, to try to get some jw's take on the matter.
of course most of them are really showing how brainwashed they are, by quoting the letter almost word for word, gas prices rising etc.. i personally feel that its wonderful, as my parents are getting older and they've been doing 3 meetings a week since the early 1960's.
the way i posted the question, i kind of insinuated that i was a jw struggling with the loss of the meeting.

Another thought- I'm no expert on how Yahoo Answers works, but couldn't you have his answer removed for calling you a liar and a troll? Isn't that considered offensive material? Or does Yahoo not care? Just a thought...

I thought about it for awhile and decided to mention that in the Yahoo answers link where you posted that question the guy named "NMB" copied and pasted your opening thread here. It seems we have what you all call a "lurker"? Self- righteous @$$hole is what I call him! He sings the praises of the bORG on Yahoo but visits websites that his "master" told him never to go near! What a hypocrite!

Were You Skeptical of "the Annointed Ones" in Your Congregation?
by BabaYaga insorry in advance to all of the ones on this forum now, who partook while jw.
i have to say that in my experience, having known personally several who were "of the annointed", most were absolutely dingy.
the only exception was the little ancient gal who had attended the early convention where all attendees were "annointed" en masse!

My ex's uncle claims to be of the anointed, but as fukt up as her family is, I always doubted. Now I know another anointed fellow. My doubts about him (and subsequently all of them) came when his well- to- do MS grandson gave a talk about avoiding spiritism in the media, movies, books, etc... I have to say, at the time I was inspired to get rid of my Star Wars movies (blasphemy, I know)! Later the SAME DAY I was at their house commending the grandson on his talk, and the anointed grandfather came over and asked me if I could stay and watch Lord of the Rings with them!!! He pulls out ALL 3 movies (the extended versions, I might add) and tells me it's going to be a marathon, I should stay! WTF?! I kept thinking, "OK- a young man wanting to go to Bethel would be denied if he admitted to watching such a movie, yet this guy could actually be asked to serve on the GB?" I knew then that something was fishy with the whole anointed thing...

Did your "counter" have any way of doing a count of who was behind the scenes backstage or checking the ladies' rooms? Even so, it doesn't seem like there'd be 200 missing attendees.

In 8th grade my science teacher asked the same question, and was enormously dismayed when I proudly announced that I wanted to be a porn star! Throughout my adult life, however, people have recommended several lines of work that they think I'd be good at. Attorney, metal sculptor, rock singer, and writer, to name a few. I have actually started a fantasy fiction novel but who knows where that will lead. I've also been told that one day I'd make a great elder, but I can't see that happening for some reason... My sister thinks I'm going to establish my own church and she's going to be its first member. "I think the Lord's going to use you in a big way..." she says. I can't help but think she might be like the ones who told me I'd be a great elder one day.
The one thing that I always told people after i got over the "porn star" kick was that I simply wanted to be a "Professional Adult". I think I'm going to just stick with that goal... -

My new favorite scripture!
by LtCmd.Lore inso.
when the jw's regect what you say simply because it's apostate, proverbs 18:13 comes to your rescue:.
13 when anyone is replying to a matter before he hears it, that is foolishness on his part and a humiliation.. right there in a single completely unambiguous sentence: it would be foolish for them to reject what you say before they hear it!.

What about Proverbs 17:17? "A true companion is loving all the time, and is a brother that is born for when there is distress."
How can someone shun you at all after reading this?
